“And the Lord spoke to me, saying: ‘You have skirted this mountain long enough; turn northward.”(Deuteronomy 2:2-3).

A shift is a change in position. A supernatural shift will cause a supernatural change in a position towards advancement in every aspect of your life. Many times, we tend to relax when things are going well. We enter into a complacent mode. We are familiar with the surroundings; we are in a place where life is running like a well-oiled machine. We feel comfortable and settle for what is, without any longing for what could be. Past victory becomes a hindrance to the next level.

This was the condition of the Israelites in this text. According to verse 7, “For the LORD your God has blessed you in everything you have done….. and you have lacked nothing.
Why would God want to shift them from a place of having everything?

It is because

– They were chosen to be a blessing to nations.
– There is more ahead of them. There are lands for them to conquer. There are territories waiting for them to take over.
– They are the fulfiller of the covenant that God made with their forefather, Abraham before they came into existence.
– The agenda is beyond them. It is not all about them.
But as long as they skirted the mountain, they cannot lay hold of this grand plan of God to be accomplished in and through them.
God watched them go in circles around the same mountain for 40 years. Until He said enough! You have stayed in this territory long enough. It’s time to shift!
God was telling them
– As long as you continue to stay here you will miss the promised land.
– As long as you remain here you will miss on my blessing.
– As long as you continue here, I can’t do what I intended to do in you and through you.
– You can’t see or experience my bigger purpose.
– As long as you tarry here, the enemies would be able to master your movement. You become predictable to the enemy.
Many Christians are not living up to the full potential that God planned for them because they keep circling the same mountain of experience. No aspiration to enter their promised land.
“Isaiah 43:19. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth;…”

May God deliver us from complacency. Amen.
It’s time to shift!
